Linda Ravenscroft is a self taught British artist
who's work has been published in many forms throughout the world.
She lives with her husband, young daughter and numerous pets in
the beautiful county of Cheshire. Her home is situated near a small
wood, which is a constant source of inspiration. Linda uses many
mediums for her paintings, her favourite being watercolour.
"My inspiration comes from many sources. I rely mostly
on my dreams and inner feelings as I have done since I was a
child, although now as an adult with more experience of the world.
Influences from artists of the past and present together with
my love of nature instilled within me from an early age by my
parents has always been an inspiration, together with tales of
myths and legends and the mysteries of the supernatural and the
unexplained.
The idea of the Faerie Folk or earth spirits, call them what
you like, dates back as far as time itself, they represent the
natural world we live in and whether you believe or not, they
have a place in our modern day society, even more now than they
ever did. It's time to look at our world and our feelings towards
fellow man, and realise what damage we are doing. My paintings
all have messages within them, they are very personal and sometimes
quite deep and difficult to explain in words, so I try to express
them in the only way I can. Most of my images are serine and
benign, although we all have a darker more passionate side waiting
to emerge.
After all we are only human" ............
