Melanie Phillips was trained in southern England, UK studying Natural
History Illustration, which is the art of painting plants and animals
for
the inclusion in published books, encyclopedias and magazines.
These three years of dedicated non-stop painting were invaluable
in forming Melanies technique and style.
On leaving college Melanie decided that the traditional route
for the freelance illustrator, i.e. signing up with an agent, sporadic
commissions and very short deadlines, was not for her. She made
the decision to go it alone, find my her commissions and be her
own boss. Melanie was commissioned straight away and hasn't looked
back since. Pet portraits, being an animal artist, is her dream
job.
